Happy Birthday to the sweetest 9 year old I know!

Sunday, after our nap, we went to Bo's mom's for my nephew's birthday party. I have enjoyed so much watching him grow up the last 9 years. He has the biggest heart of any kid I know. I am so proud of him. He is also super funny. I love you Dash!

Priorities

This is my FAVORITE way to spend my Sunday afternoon. Sure, I could have spent the hour doing laundry or cleaning out my closet, but instead, I chose to spend it with my son. Time well spent!!

Weekend Warrior

We told Andrew a long time ago that we like to go places on the weekend... So, if he wants to hang with us, he better get ready. Last weekend we took a trip to Nashville. It was a weekend of many "1st's". His 1st real road trip. His 1st time to spend the night away from home. His 1st babysitter (that wasn't family). We actually made it there and back with everything we needed. Much more planning went into this trip than any other we had taken. We stayed with our sweet friends, Brad and Margaret Hollis. They just moved in their new home the night before we got there. We were their 1st house guests. They have a beautiful house that they have remodeled. I am so sad that I didn't get any pictures of it. (Thanks so much for letting us stay during your crazy move. We can't wait to come back and see the finished project!) Can anyone guess why we went to Nashville... The Music City Marathon? No... The Dove Awards? No... The Dave Matthews Band Concert at Vanderbilt Stadium... YES! And yes, it was an even better show than we saw on Monday night... Here are some pictures from the weekend...

The good thing about traveling with Andrew is that he is a great excuse to have to stop. Bo likes to make good time whenever we go on trips, but sometimes I slow us down with pit stops and wanting snacks. I think having me prepared him for having a baby. We had books, toys, bottles, bibs, pack n play, 5 different outfits, formula, diapers, wipes, bouncy seat, mat-mat, & paci's I don't think there was one thing that we forgot. Pretty good for our first trip, huh?
"Anyone behind us? Let's go Mom!!"

"This road trip thing is fun! Mom sits in the back seat with me and we read books and play with my toys and sing songs... and NAP!"
"Lets do this again!"

What at week!

Bo left Tuesday for a week in California for work. No big deal, I can handle everything, right? WRONG! I invited my dad to come and spend a couple of days with us, just in case it was too much. He kept Andrew for 2 days and I don't know which one had more fun. It is so good for Andrew to get to know his PawPaw. They were both exhausted by the end of the day. I was on call on Wednesday and ended up working for about 6 hours once I got home. Dad was so much help giving Andrew his bath, bottle and putting him to bed. THANKS PAW PAW! I couldn't have done it without you. Andrew had so much fun playing with you and is working on his tricks you taught him! We will see you soon!

Hey~check me out in my exer-saucer.

This is fun!

Awesome...as usual

We had so much fun. It was a great show, we had great seats, the weather was perfect too. It was great to take our friends Robbie & Sena, Brandon & Ashley and Casey and D. Guth. I look forward to the 2 other shows this summer.

Summer Concert #1

The week I got home from the hospital after having Andrew, was the week that the summer tour was announced. I saw that they were scheduled to play at the Oak Mtn. Amphitheater ( I know it has some sponsored name, but I will forever call it Oak Mtn.) and I was shocked. A new baby and Dave coming to Birmingham. What a great week! DMB has not been to Birmingham since 2001. I guess Dave knew that we had a baby and should stay closer to home. We are so excited. I think we will get to see this show and 2 more this year. Looking forward to it!!!

And Yes, Andrew does have a Dave Matthews Band T-shirt that he will be wearing today.

4/14/08-4/14/09- What a Year!!

Monday, April 14th 2008 was the day that we found out I was pregnant. We kept it a secret for about 6 more weeks until I went to the doctor. Seeing that little lima bean was one of the most amazing things I have ever seen. Seeing his heart beat, knowing that God had chosen ME to be his mother. WOW! How amazing is that? I never thought it could be this wonderful. This picture is from the Master's last year. We went to the practice round on Wednesday. I wish I could fit into those shorts again...

He is not here, for he has risen! Matthew 28:6

Easter morning was beautiful. Andrew and I got up about 6 and had our own little sunrise service. Then we read books and had a tiny little dance party. What a way to start your day! We had a great service at church then went to my mom's for a birthday/Easter lunch and egg hunt.

Mom ALWAYS makes Easter baskets for everyone, including the dog... but this year it was all about the kids. I have had to turn over my Easter basket to Andrew. It wasn't as hard as I thought it was going to be, especially because I got birthday presents. Mom always make it a special day. Thanks Mom, I love you!! We had a wonderful lunch, egg hunt w/ my nieces and finished the day by watching the Masters.

New PJ's!! Oh Boy!

I kind of think that my birthday is the best day of the whole year. Sorry, I just do. I don't think I will ever be one of those people who doesn't want to celebrate and hope people don't remember their birthday. I LOVE IT!! After all, it is the celebration of another year of life, and what a great year it has been. I look forward to what my 31st year of life has to offer. Thanks to all of you who called, texted and facebooked me! Such techy ways to say happy birthday. I asked Bo to get up with Andrew on Saturday morning so I could sleep in. This was not a big request because he just gets up at 6:30 and many times will go right back to sleep if you let him. Poor Bo... He got up at 12, 4 & 6!! But my sweet Bo didn't complain once! Thanks!!! It was a nice to sleep in for a change.

We went out to Oak Mtn. for a picnic with Bo's family. It was much cooler than we had hoped for, but it was a fun lunch and nice change of scenery. Hopefully we can enjoy it more later this spring/summer. The rest of the day was just spent at home washing clothes, watching the Masters and relaxing. It was a great birthday!

One Clean, Happy Baby

Andrew is such a happy baby! We are SO blessed! My Papa says that he never sees any pictures of him smiling... so here you go Pops! The smiles are so hard to capture sometimes. This was bath time tonight. He was in the best mood and so happy to have his dad home after being gone for 5 nights. This is the sweet face we wake up to in the mornings and come home to in the afternoons. We get to see these sweet smiles all the time. Thanks Andrew for making our day! We love you!!

4 Month Check-Up

We went to see Dr. Dudgen on Tuesday for Andrew's 4month check up. He is doing great! He weighed 14.25lbs (50th Percentile) and was a whopping 27 inches long (90th Percentile). His head was in the 25th percentile which was an improvement over the last measurement in the 15th percentile. He did great and laughed and smiled at Dr. Dudgen... Then the lady with the needles came in and the fun was over. I just felt so sorry for him laying there not knowing what was about to happen. He actually did very well and didn't even cry on the first stick, but after the 2nd, 3rd, & 4th one, he was not too happy. Who would be, right? All in all, it was a good visit and we will update you all again after the 6 month check up.

Saturday in Spring

I love Spring! Saturday was such a beautiful day here. Andrew and I went shopping in the morning and met the Crowders at the Homewood/Spain Park baseball game. Andrew wore his Patriot baseball uniform to support Homewood. He did so great. He loves his stroller and being outside. I enjoyed being outside and catching up with Shea. I thought everyone was getting up for the 7th inning stretch, but the game was over. Who knew they only play 7 innings?

"Hey batter, batter, batter, batter...sa-wing batter!"
Way to go Patriots!

That evening we went over to the Crowders to watch the semi-finals and try to spot Bo on TV. Jim grilled an amazing steak and Shea made delicious sweet potato fries. She taught me that sweet potatoes don't always taste like they do at Outback. Thanks Shea! It is amazing what that Sea Salt will do for things!
Oh boy! The game is starting!!

YIKES! Its too close, I can't watch!

My Sweet Nephew

I really do love my nieces and nephews. They all are so sweet and so different. After work last Thursday, I had to go get my hair cut. I called Bo on my way home and he told me that Cory had a surprise for me. When I got home, there they were... all the bottles washed! You all know this is the most boring and never-ending job I have. I was so happy that I didn't have to do it. What a wonderful surprise. The best part was that he was so proud, then he asked if I would pay him. HA! I think it cost me about $1.50, which was all the cash I could gather up. What a deal!
